Before You Start — What You Need

To set up IPTV you need three things: a working internet connection (minimum 10 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps or above recommended for 4K), a compatible device (any of the eight listed above), and your Smart IPTV Ireland login details. If you don't have a subscription yet, start with a free trial — it's free, requires no credit card, and we'll send your login credentials via WhatsApp within minutes of your message.

Your login details come in one of two formats depending on your device. Most users receive Xtream Codes login — a server URL, username, and password — which works in IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate, GSE Smart IPTV, and almost every modern IPTV app. Samsung and LG Smart TV users receive a MAC address activation for the Smart IPTV (SIPTV) app. We'll tell you which format applies to your device when we send your credentials via WhatsApp, so there's no guessing involved.

For most devices we recommend IPTV Smarters Pro — it's free, handles both Xtream Codes and M3U, and works on Firestick, Android, Windows and Smart TV. For Firestick and Android TV boxes, TiviMate is the premium alternative with a superior EPG interface. For iPhone and iPad, GSE Smart IPTV is the most reliable iOS option. For Samsung and LG Smart TVs, the Smart IPTV app is easiest. See our IPTV box guide for a full device and app comparison.

How to Set Up IPTV on Amazon Firestick / Fire TV

Time: ~5 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Easy  ·  App: IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate

Step 1 — Enable Apps from Unknown Sources

Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps and turn it ON for the Downloader app. This is a standard Amazon setting that allows you to install apps not listed on the Amazon App Store — it's completely safe and doesn't affect your Firestick warranty or any other apps.

Step 2 — Install the Downloader App

Go to the Amazon App Store on your Firestick, search for "Downloader" (by AFTVnews) and install it. It's free. Downloader is a simple browser/file manager that lets you download and install IPTV apps by entering a direct URL — you'll use it once and then use your IPTV app directly going forward.

Step 3 — Download IPTV Smarters Pro

Open Downloader and in the URL field enter the IPTV Smarters Pro download URL. We send this URL in your WhatsApp welcome message alongside your login credentials. The app downloads automatically and Downloader will prompt you to install it — tap Install when prompted, then Done (not "Open Downloader"). Go back to your home screen and find IPTV Smarters Pro in your apps.

Step 4 — Enter Your Login Details

Open IPTV Smarters Pro and on the welcome screen select "Login with Xtream Codes API." Enter a display name (anything you like), then copy in the Server URL, Username, and Password exactly as sent to you via WhatsApp — these are case-sensitive, so copy carefully. Tap Add User and wait 30–60 seconds for your 55,000+ channels to load.

Step 5 — Start Watching

Browse channel categories from the main menu — Live TV, Movies, Series. Tap any channel to play immediately. The EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) is accessible from the main menu and shows what's on now and next across every channel. If you want to install TiviMate instead for a better TV-guide experience, message us on WhatsApp and we'll send the download link.

Tip: For the best Firestick IPTV performance, connect via a USB-C Ethernet adapter (~€10 from Amazon) instead of Wi-Fi — this eliminates the most common cause of buffering. Consider TiviMate as an alternative to IPTV Smarters once you're set up — it has a superior EPG and is well worth the small annual fee. Stuck? Message us on WhatsApp and we'll walk through it with you in real time.

How to Set Up IPTV on Smart TV (Samsung / LG / Sony)

Time: ~5 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Easy  ·  App: Smart IPTV (SIPTV) or IPTV Smarters

Option A — Smart IPTV App (Samsung & LG — recommended)

Open your TV's built-in app store (Samsung Smart Hub or LG Content Store) and search for "Smart IPTV" — install the app from developer SIPTV. Open it and note the MAC address displayed on screen — message it to us via WhatsApp and we'll activate it on our end. Once we confirm activation, press Exit on your remote and reopen Smart IPTV — your full channel list will load automatically. There's a one-time activation fee of approximately €5.49 for the Smart IPTV app itself, but no recurring charge after that.

Option B — IPTV Smarters on Android TV

If your Smart TV runs Android TV (Sony Bravia, Philips, TCL, Hisense), open the Google Play Store, search for "IPTV Smarters Pro" and install it. Open the app, tap Add User → Login with Xtream Codes API, enter your Server URL, Username and Password from WhatsApp, and tap Add User. Your channels load immediately. This is simpler than Option A and doesn't require MAC address activation.

Option C — Plug a Firestick into Your Smart TV

If your Smart TV's built-in processor runs apps slowly, or if the Smart IPTV app isn't available for your TV model, plugging an Amazon Fire TV Stick into your TV's HDMI port is the most reliable solution. It costs €35–55, takes 5 minutes to set up following the Firestick guide above, and consistently delivers smoother performance than Smart TV native apps. See our IPTV box guide for purchasing advice.

Tip: Smart TVs made before 2017 may not support modern IPTV apps at all — a Firestick is the easiest and most cost-effective solution. Ask us on WhatsApp if you're unsure which option suits your TV.

How to Set Up IPTV on Android Phone & Tablet

Time: ~3 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Very Easy  ·  App: IPTV Smarters Pro

Step 1 — Download IPTV Smarters Pro

Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone or tablet and search for "IPTV Smarters Pro." Install the free app — it's one of the most popular IPTV apps for Android phones, with a clean interface and straightforward setup. No sideloading needed on Android, unlike Firestick.

Step 2 — Enter Your Login Details

Open IPTV Smarters Pro and tap Add User → Login with Xtream Codes API. Enter your display name, then the Server URL, Username, and Password exactly as sent to you via WhatsApp. Tap Add User — your 55,000+ channels and 125,000+ VODs load within about 30 seconds. That's the IPTV installation on Android complete.

Step 3 — Start Watching

Browse channels by category, tap any to play, or search for a specific channel or movie by name. You can also cast to your TV using Chromecast — tap the cast icon in the player controls while something is playing. The full programme guide is available from the Live TV section.

Tip: For Android TV boxes (Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi Mi Box, Formuler), follow exactly the same steps — but also consider TiviMate from the Google Play Store for a superior big-screen EPG experience. Message us on WhatsApp if you'd like a TiviMate setup guide.

How to Set Up IPTV on iPhone & iPad

Time: ~3 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Very Easy  ·  App: GSE Smart IPTV or IPTV Smarters

Step 1 — Download the App

Open the App Store and search for "GSE Smart IPTV" (developer: GSE Apps) — this is the most reliably-available IPTV app on iOS with consistent App Store presence and regular updates. Alternatively, search for "IPTV Smarters Player" if it's currently listed. Both are free and both work with Smart IPTV Ireland credentials.

Step 2 — Add Your Subscription

Open GSE Smart IPTV, tap the ≡ menu (top left) → Remote Playlists → +Xtream Codes API. Enter a playlist name (anything), then your Server URL, Username, and Password from your WhatsApp message. Tap Add & Play — channels load within seconds.

Step 3 — Watch

Browse channels by category and tap to play. For big-screen viewing, tap the AirPlay icon in the player controls to cast to your Apple TV, AirPlay 2-compatible TV, or HomePod for audio.

Tip: IPTV apps periodically disappear from the App Store due to Apple's review process. If GSE Smart IPTV isn't currently available, message us on WhatsApp and we'll direct you to the best currently-available iOS option.

How to Set Up IPTV on PC & Mac

Time: ~3 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Very Easy  ·  App: VLC Media Player or IPTV Smarters

Option A — VLC Media Player (free, any OS)

Download VLC Media Player from videolan.org — it's free, available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and is the simplest way to watch IPTV on a computer. Open VLC → Media → Open Network Stream (Ctrl+N on Windows, Cmd+N on Mac) → paste your M3U URL sent via WhatsApp → click Play. Your channel list loads as a playlist in VLC's sidebar. Not glamorous, but it works perfectly.

Option B — IPTV Smarters (Windows — better experience)

For a more TV-like IPTV experience on Windows, download IPTV Smarters Pro for Windows from the Microsoft Store or the official website. Install, open, and enter your Xtream Codes login (Server URL, Username, Password) exactly as you would on Android or Firestick. This gives you a proper TV-guide interface with categories, EPG, and separate Movies/Series sections — much more usable than VLC for daily viewing.

Option C — Web Player

Message us on WhatsApp to ask whether a web-based player is available for your subscription tier. A web player requires no installation and works in any browser on any operating system — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari all work.

How to Set Up IPTV on MAG Box

Time: ~5 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Moderate  ·  Method: Built-in Stalker Portal

Step 1 — Find Your MAC Address

On your MAG box remote, press the Setup button (or navigate to Settings → System Info). Your MAC address is displayed on screen — it starts with 00:1A:79 and looks like 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. Send it to us via WhatsApp and we'll register it on our servers before you continue.

Step 2 — Set the Portal URL

Navigate to Settings → Servers → Portals on your MAG box. In the Portal 1 Name field, enter "Smart IPTV Ireland" (or any name you choose). In the Portal 1 URL field, enter the portal URL we send you via WhatsApp after your MAC registration. Leave Portal 2 blank. Save the settings — your MAG box will attempt to connect to our servers.

Step 3 — Restart & Watch

Restart your MAG box either via the Settings menu or by unplugging and replugging the power. When it reboots, it will load the full channel list from our servers automatically. Navigate the channel list with your remote and press OK to play any channel.

Compatible models: MAG 250, 254, 256, 257, 322, 324, 349, 351, 420, 424, 425, 520, 524, 525. For older models not listed, message us on WhatsApp to confirm compatibility before purchasing.

How to Set Up IPTV on Android TV Box

Time: ~3 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Easy  ·  Devices: Nvidia Shield, Formuler, Xiaomi Mi Box, Chromecast with Google TV

Android TV boxes run the same Android operating system as your phone, so the IPTV setup process is identical — open the Google Play Store on your box, search for and install IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate, then enter your Xtream Codes login details (Server URL, Username, Password) from your WhatsApp credentials message. Tap Add User and your channels load immediately.

For Android TV boxes specifically, TiviMate from the Google Play Store is strongly recommended over IPTV Smarters — it has a proper TV-guide interface designed for big-screen navigation, better EPG handling, and more stable playback on Android TV hardware. The free version covers most needs; TiviMate Premium (~€4/year) adds recording, multi-screen viewing, and parental locks.

For Formuler boxes, the built-in MyTVOnline 3 app is pre-installed and is an excellent option. Message us on WhatsApp for your Formuler portal URL — setup takes about 2 minutes through the MyTVOnline interface. See our IPTV box guide for a comparison of Android TV box models.

️ How to Set Up IPTV on Enigma2 / Dreambox / VU+

Time: ~10 minutes  ·  Difficulty: Advanced  ·  Method: XtreamTV plugin or M3U

Enigma2 devices — Dreambox, VU+, Zgemma, Octagon and similar Linux-based satellite receivers — are fully compatible with Smart IPTV Ireland but require manual plugin installation rather than a simple app download. The most reliable method on modern Enigma2 images is the XtreamTV plugin, which accepts your Xtream Codes credentials directly. Alternatively, an M3U playlist can be loaded via the built-in IPTV player in OpenWebif or directly on-device, though channel loading is slower with this method.

Because Enigma2 setup varies significantly between hardware models, firmware images (OpenATV, OpenPLi, DreamOS), and installed plugins, we strongly recommend messaging us on WhatsApp with your specific device model and firmware version — we'll provide step-by-step guidance tailored to your exact setup and can usually get you running in under 10 minutes. This is the one setup we don't recommend attempting without live support on the first go.

Simpler alternative: If Enigma2 setup feels too complex, plugging an Amazon Fire TV Stick into the same TV's spare HDMI port gives you the identical 55,000+ channels through a far simpler setup. The Firestick guide above takes about 5 minutes.

IPTV Setup Troubleshooting

The most common cause is a typo in the credentials — the Server URL, Username, and Password are all case-sensitive. Double-check each field exactly against what was sent to you on WhatsApp, paying particular attention to capital letters and zeroes vs letter O. Verify your internet connection is active (try opening a website or YouTube). Close the IPTV app completely and reopen it. If channels still don't load after rechecking, message us on WhatsApp and we'll verify your login is active on our end.

First, run a speed test on your device — you need at least 10 Mbps for reliable HD and 25 Mbps for 4K. If you're on Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired Ethernet connection using a USB or USB-C adapter — this resolves most buffering issues immediately. In your IPTV app settings, increase the buffer size to 2–5 seconds if the option is available. If you're using a VPN, disconnect it or connect to a UK or Ireland server — VPNs often throttle video streams. Smart IPTV Ireland's dedicated Irish and UK servers handle peak demand well, but a weak home network connection is the most common culprit. Message us on WhatsApp if buffering persists after trying these steps.

For Firestick: go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and ensure Install Unknown Apps is enabled for the Downloader app. Without this, sideloaded apps won't install. For Smart TVs: if the app isn't available in your TV's app store, your TV model may not support it — plug a Firestick into the HDMI port and follow the Firestick guide above. Message us on WhatsApp with your device model and we'll identify the right installation method for you.

In IPTV Smarters, go to Settings → EPG and confirm Auto-update EPG is enabled. Tap Force Update to trigger an immediate refresh. In TiviMate, go to Settings → Playlists, select your playlist, and tap Refresh EPG. The programme guide can take 2–5 minutes to fully populate on first load — if it's still blank after 10 minutes, message us on WhatsApp with your device and app and we'll check the EPG URL on your account.

Use the search function in your IPTV app — in IPTV Smarters it's the magnifying glass icon in the Live TV section. Channels are organised by country and category, so try browsing under the relevant country flag or genre category. Remember that some channels have slightly different names in the IPTV listing compared to their broadcast name. If you still can't locate a channel, check our channel list or message us on WhatsApp with the channel name and we'll find it for you.
